This registration process is the new process replacing ‘UDYOG AADHAR’ launched by the Ministry of MSME which is effective from 1st July 2020. The main objective behind the introduction of enterprise registration is to reduce the procedural burden that business owners have to go through to register their businesses under Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises or MSMEs. Towards the digitization of India and better streamlining of processes, the Udyam Registration Portal is a new and improved technology-first system. This facility is available for every entrepreneur in India.

What is Udyam Certificate?

The main question in the minds of many budding entrepreneurs is what is Udyam Certificate. Udyam registration is also known as MSME Registration and this one is a government registration that is provided with an identity certificate and a unique number. It is meant to certify small/medium businesses or enterprises.

The central motive behind launching this facility was to provide a way for the government to maximize the benefits to the medium or small-scale enterprises or enterprises in India, which are registered by MSMEs through their Aadhaar card numbers.

The owner, director, or owner of the organization will provide their 12-digit Aadhaar number. It is a mandatory guideline whether the enterprise or organization is a Sole Proprietorship, LLP, Private Limited Company, or any other. It should have an identity certificate provided by the MSME registration process.

Who is able to get Udyam certificate?

Organizations that are eligible for registration are either manufacturing or producing or processing or preserving goods or providing services. In other words, traders who buy, sell, import, or export goods are not eligible for registration.

But you should know that to get MSME registration an entity has to fulfill certain criteria to be classified as medium, small or micro-enterprise.

Types of Enterprises

·       Micro Enterprises

Investment has to be up to Rs 1 crore and turnover up to Rs 5 crore

·       Small Enterprises

Investment has to be up to Rs 10 crore and turnover up to Rs 50 crore

·      Medium Enterprises

Investment has to be up to Rs 50 crore and turnover up to Rs 250 crore

Udyam Registration Process

This registration process similar for MSME Udyam Certificate also.

Step 1: Visit the Official Website

The first step to registering the business online would be to visit the official Udyam registration portal.

Click  the option  “For New Entrepreneurs who are not yet registered as MSME”.

Step 2: Enter your personal information

You have to enter your name and your 12-digit unique Aadhaar number. Click on “Validate & Generate OTP”. You will get an OTP on your mobile number. Enter the OTP.

Special Note: For new ventures, an Aadhaar number will be required for the proprietor's Udyam registration in case of the proprietary firm; of the managing partner in case of a partnership firm; Karta in case of Hindu Undivided Family is an authorized signatory in the case of a company or LLP or co-operative society or society or trust.

Step 3: PAN Verification

Select the organization type and enter your PAN number and click on validate. PAN authentication takes place. In the case of Company/LLP/Co-operative Society/Society/Trust, his authorized signature should provide GSTIN and PAN of Company/LLP/Co-operative Society/Society/Trust along with his Aadhaar number.

Step 4: Filling Correspondence Details

After filling in all the details mentioned above, the next information you need to provide is the complete postal address of the company/enterprise/organization. Also information about your company district, pin code, state, email address, and mobile number.

Step 5: Fill in the bank details

You have to enter the active bank account number of your enterprise along with the IFSC code of the respective branch. If you don't have the IFSC code of the respective branch, you can get it on the bank's website.

Step 6: Enterprise Details

You have to mention the main activities of your enterprise in "service" or "product". You have to submit the total number of persons employed and the National Industry Classification (NIC) code for the activities.

After filling in all the details, the last thing is to enter the total amount (in lakhs) that you have invested in your machinery or plant.

Step 7: Select the District Industry Center and accept the announcement

In the final step of this process, you will select the District Industry Center from the drop-down list provided. After that, accept the declaration and click on the option “Submit and Get Final OTP”. Enter that OTP received on mobile and click on the “Final Submit” button. Once you click on 'Submit and Get Final OTP' you will get a registration number. When your information is verified by the government, Click on ‘Udyam Registration Certificate Download’ get the Udyam Registration Certificate.

How to get Udyam certificate download?

After Completing the registration process lets get to know about downloading process of certificate. It is very simple process. Any entrepreneur can easily get it on internet.

• Enter your 19-digit Udyam Registration Number (eg UDYAM-XX-00-0000000) in the space provided above.

• Enter the captcha provided on the page. Numbers and letters are case-sensitive. After you enter the captcha and OTP select Verify. Then its get verify on portal and after Udyam verification You can see the validity of the certificate.

• Enter captcha again and click the downloading option.

• After downloading it get the Udyam Certificate download PDF

To promote MSMEs, which are the backbone of the Indian economy, the MSMED Act provides several schemes, grants, and incentives. You need to register your MSME to avail of this, though it is not mandatory.

Steps of Udyam Registration for MSME’s

1. Fill out the application form with the company name, registration number, GST number, and other relevant details.

2. Fill in your details including name, bank details, address, PAN, etc. with a photo.

3. Your application will be processed and reviewed by the official executive, who will ask you to make changes if any discrepancies are found.

4. Once it is done, Click on ‘MSME certificate download’.

5. Get the MSME Certificate Udyam registration.

This process is exactly similar to Udyam registration process.

Update Udyam Certificate Online

Step 1: Visit the Udyam portal.

Step 2: click the option on to ‘Update Certificate’ page

Step 3: Enter Udyam Registration Number, Applicant Name, Mobile Number, and Email Address which is printed on your Udyam Certificate.

Step 4: Next, you can select the registered mobile number and mail address on which you want to receive your OTP. The OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number or mail address of your choice.

Step 5: Pay for the service online

Step 7: After a few working hours you will get an updated Udyam certificate at your registered mail address.

Enterprises Udyam Registration

A new plant or a new branch of business can be added by updating the UDYAM registration. Enterprises having UDYAM registration numbers can update information online on the portal on a self-declaration basis.
